Richard Star moved to Charleston in 2011 after working for 14 years at Cliffstar Corporation, a vertically integrated private label beverage company. Richard worked in many capacities at Cliffstar, including Sales Manager, Director of Strategic Planning, Vice President of Manufacturing, and Vice President of Ingredient Technology. He was also a part owner and a member of the senior management team. After Cliffstar was sold to Cott Corporation in 2010, Richard served as VP of Grower Relations until he left in 2011.

With his MBA from Duke University and Master's from New York University, Richard came to Charleston and founded RJS Ventures, a diversified investment fund. He serves as Chairman of a local non-profit focused on addressing literacy in public schools, the Regional Board for Reading Partners.
