Luiz T. Yamashita, Jr, CCIM, is a seasoned professional in real estate and finance, currently serving as the Managing Partner and Broker in Charge of Dunes Commercial Properties. With a diverse background spanning both international business and local community engagement, Luiz brings a wealth of expertise to his role.

In March of 2014, Luiz embarked on his journey with Dunes Commercial Properties, initially joining as a multilingual real estate agent specializing in Commercial Real Estate and Investment Properties. Fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, his linguistic prowess has facilitated seamless transactions and fostered connections with clients from around the globe.

Luiz's venture into the real estate arena was rooted in his early experiences as an investor, where he acquired properties along the coast of South Carolina. His passion for real estate and knack for identifying opportunities soon led him to extend his expertise to others, including international investors seeking ventures in the United States.

Prior to his foray into the real estate realm, Luiz spent twelve years at Bloomberg LP, where he held pivotal roles in product development and implementation. Beginning his career in Bloomberg's Sao Paulo office, Luiz later transitioned to their New York headquarters before ultimately settling in South Carolina.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Luiz is deeply rooted in his personal life. He shares a fulfilling partnership with his wife, Susan Martin Stox Yamashita, a proud native of the Lowcountry with familial ties to Charleston. Together, they nurture their young son, Thomas, whose vibrant spirit brings joy to their lives.

Luiz's academic journey traces back to Sao Paulo, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Finance with honors from FAAP – Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado. Notably, he and his colleagues garnered acclaim for their graduation thesis, earning the prestigious ABN Amro Bank Award for their work on Future Markets Operations to Hedge and Leverage Agribusiness.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Luiz serves as a Commercial Real Estate Advisor to Lowcountry Local First and supports environmental conservation efforts through his involvement with Friends of Brookgreen Gardens. Additionally, Luiz is a proud member of the Pawleys Island Civic Association, where he actively participates in initiatives aimed at enhancing the local community and promoting civic engagement. He also serves as a member of the CRDA Board of Directors, contributing to strategic decisions and initiatives that shape community development and growth.

In his commitment to education and research, Luiz has previously served as an executive board member for the Montessori School of Pawleys Island and provided guidance as an advisor to Project A.L.S., showcasing his dedication to fostering growth and progress within his community and beyond.
